Episode 31 Summary:
After catching the giant squid, the young woman carries it back to her cave to roast. The savory aroma of the cooked squid wafts out with the wind, drifting into the nearby forest, where a one-horned wolf lies sleeping. The wolf wakes, sniffing the delicious scent, and silently creeps toward the cave.
With a loud howl, it charges inside—but luckily, the woman has pressed herself into a dark corner, trembling from exhaustion and cold. The scent of the roasted squid seems to captivate the massive wolf, making it forget about her presence.
Carefully and cautiously, she begins to sneak away, stepping lightly as she escapes the cave. But as she emerges, the wolf finishes the squid and immediately gives chase. Sprinting across the beach, she realizes her strength won’t allow her to outrun the enormous predator.
In a desperate move, she plunges into the sea—a safe refuge, since the wolf dares not follow her into the water. Yet it does not leave, lying on the shore and waiting for her to resurface.
