A total of 143 data centre projects worth RM144.4bil were approved between 2021 and June 30 this year, said Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong.
He told the Dewan Rakyat that 25 of these projects, granted Malaysia Digital status, have received incentives under the Digital Ecosystem Acceleration Scheme (Desac) and are expected to generate 1,429 new jobs.
Liew also said a Data Centre Task Force has been set up to ensure the sector's sustainable growth.
