The Federal Aviation Administration on Nov. 6, 2025 is working to hammer out details of an unprecedented plan to cut 10 percent of flights at 40 high-traffic US airports to address safety concerns regarding air traffic controllers amid a record-setting federal government shutdown. Air travelers at Washington's Reagan National Airport expressed concern and frustration about the lingering government shutdown and its effect on air traffic controllers and TSA workers who are working without compensation. The shutdown, now the longest in US history, has forced 13,000 air traffic controllers and 50,000 Transportation Security Administration agents to work without pay. REUTERS
