Signal No. 4 was raised over Catanduanes on Saturday night as Typhoon “Uwan” intensified further while moving closer to the Bicol Region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA said the eye of the typhoon may pass close to Catanduanes and could make landfall over Aurora Province by Sunday evening or early Monday morning. However, a possible southward shift in its track may result in a direct hit or landfall over Catanduanes.

The weather bureau added that Uwan is expected to rapidly intensify and may reach the super typhoon category by Sunday. Signal No. 5, the highest wind warning level, may be raised in areas facing potentially catastrophic impacts.
