‘Uwan’ rapidly intensifying; more areas under Signal No. 4 — PAGASA

Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-wong) continues to rapidly intensify as it moves closer to Catanduanes, according to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. update on Sunday, Nov. 9.

The typhoon was last located 195 kilometers east of Catanduanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 215 kph.

Moving west-northwest at 35 kph, Uwan is forecast to reach super typhoon strength by Sunday afternoon as it passes north of Camarines Norte and Quezon province.
