STILLS: Rescuers patients as Malaysian floods affect 11,000
More than 11,000 people in seven Malaysian states have been affected by flooding caused by torrential rain, the national disaster agency said on Monday.
Still images released by APM Tumpat, a Malaysian rescue agency, show rescue workers rushing to transfer a flood victim from a house surrounded by floodwaters in Tumpat, Malaysia.
Tumpat, a district in the north-eastern state of Kelantan, which borders Thailand, is among the areas affected. Kelantan has been the worst hit, with 8,228 people affected. No deaths have been reported, according to Malaysia’s National Disaster Management Agency.
Floods are common on the eastern coast of Malaysia during the annual monsoon season from October to March, with thousands of people displaced each year.
