Eight killed and thousands displaced in Indonesia's floods
Eight people died and more than 2,000 residents were displaced after floods hit Indonesia's region of Sibolga in North Sumatra, the disaster mitigation agency said on Wednesday.
Heavy overnight rains triggered flooding and landslides in some parts of the region.
In footage provided by local media, rescuers were seen on Tuesday in rubber boats as they tried to reach residents trapped by the floodwaters.
As heavy rain continues in parts of the region, the country's search and rescue agency has warned people to stay away from flood-prone areas.
