Russian President Vladimir Putin said he hopes the conflict in Ukraine will end “the sooner, the better,” but stressed it can only happen once the objectives of Russia’s “special military operation” are fulfilled. Speaking during his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Putin discussed sanctions, Russia’s economic pivot toward Asia, relations with the EU, and long-term cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in energy, education, migration, and high-tech sectors.
He added that Russia is open to renewed economic engagement with Europe “if they decide to return,” but only under current economic realities.
