The Liberal National party seizes Hinchinbrook, declaring the by-election win an endorsement of its first year in office

The Liberal National Party claims an historic victory, seizing the seat of Hinchinbrook from Katter's Australian party. It's the first time since 1998 that a sitting state government has gained a seat in a by-election.
