This short film is an adaptation of the classic short, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. It will be set in modern times and pieced together as a documentary forming around the flawed healthcare system of the United States. It is reported that over 43 million people in America have no health insurance, yet it is the highest profiting system that we have. People are being denied coverage in their darkest hour. This short will explore what happens when, push comes to shove, and these people take matters into their own hands. Do we allow the justice system to stand by and watch us die simply because we cannot afford treatment? Or do we do it ourselves. What happens when the lines between right and wrong… co-exist?
