It’s said that only 13 members of the FTSE 100 have a communications expert on the main Board. In these days of transparency that is very odd. Even odder when you recognise that a smallish slip by the chairman can unleash the demons of unintended consequences. Reputations are too precious to be left in the hands of amateurs, even if they are on the Board.
